How to get tip out of input jack10000.00
Okay you just bought a new cable and the darn tip just broke off inside the amp!!! How do you get it out? Well I worked on this several times until I figured this out. Big savings in time over removing the entire board and replacing the jack. Just because you get the jack off the board doesn't always get the tip out. Step 1 using a long shaft Q tip ( These are found in old VRC head cleaning kits) or similar. In other words long thin piece of wood that is strong. place Goop glue on the end. A very small amount is needed. Carefully push this down into the center of the old tip. There is usually a hole where the shaft broke away. if not do your best to have the glue adhere to the old tip in a way that doesn't attach itself to the inside of the jack wall. Step 2 Allow the glue to dry overnight. Step 3 Don't try and pull up on the stick yet! I know you want to! The problem is the locking mechanism that normally holds the cable in place is holding the tip in place. Here is where that old telescoping antenna off that useless VHS wireless system come in handy. The last joint (closest to the screw holding it in place) should be the perfect size to fit down inside the jack opening. Cut a section of the tubing about 3 inches long. Now you will need to cut the tubing long ways in half approximately half the length of the tube. Remove one side leaving one side attached. You now have the perfect device to slide down beside the stuck tip and release the locking mechanism that is keeping the tip in place. Look down in the jack opening and locate the locking mechanism. This is the side you want to have the uncut side of your tube face. Slide the tube over the Q tip shaft and into the jack opening. Push down until you feel it push the locking mechanism out of the way. Now pull up on the Q tip shaft and the old cable tip should come right out.
